Specialty Coffee Catering in Newton, MA
Owner-Operated | No Travel Fee for Newton Events | 5.0 ★ (50+) on Google | Services Start at $599 | Specialty Coffee from Local MA Roasters
There is a specific reason Solarium Coffee uses George Howell espresso, and it starts in Newtonville. George Howell opened his first cafe under his own name at 311 Walnut Street in 2012, and in the years since, that cafe has become a touchstone for anyone in the Boston area who takes specialty coffee seriously.
Newton is a city where that kind of connection resonates. The hosts and event organizers here tend to research their vendors, care about what they are serving, and notice the difference between commodity espresso and single-origin beans roasted with intention. Solarium is building its presence in Newton, and the foundation of that presence is a coffee program that holds up to scrutiny from people who already know what good coffee tastes like.
Newtonville is one of Newton's thirteen village centers, each with its own character and clientele. The city's residential neighborhoods, from Chestnut Hill to Newton Highlands to Waban, generate private events where expectations are high and the details matter. The corporate corridor along Route 128 and the Mass Turnpike generates a different kind of client: offices where an impressive coffee service is part of showing up well for a team or a client. Both types of events are exactly what Solarium is built for.
Solarium is based in Framingham, roughly 20 minutes from most Newton locations. Services start at $599, and there is no travel fee for Newton events. Fill out the form below for a free, instant quote.
Our Most Popular Services in Newton, MA
Here are the most popular event types we book. If you don’t see yours here, check out all our services.
Corporate Coffee Catering in Newton
The Route 128 corridor runs through Newton and carries a dense concentration of financial services, life sciences, and technology offices. These are workplaces where a well-run coffee service communicates something specific about the host: that the details of the day were considered. Ben and Halle run every event personally. There is no vendor coordinator, no day-of substitute. The people you plan with are the people who show up.
For team appreciation events, client breakfasts, and office milestones, Solarium brings a full espresso bar setup that fits a standard conference room or lobby footprint. The cart requires a 6x6 ft space and a dedicated 15-amp outlet. Guests order directly from the bar, drinks are made to order, and the menu includes espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, iced drinks, and seasonal signature options made with house-made syrups.
Corporate clients in Newton often add:
Custom cup branding with a company logo ($150, 2 weeks notice)
A signature drink developed for the event ($100)
Custom cart branding in brand colors ($300, 2 weeks notice)
Private Celebrations in Newton
Newton's residential neighborhoods host some of the area's most thoughtfully planned private events. Milestone birthdays in Newton Highlands, bridal showers in Chestnut Hill, graduation brunches in West Newton, anniversary dinners in Waban. These are events where someone has invested real effort in the experience and wants every vendor to match that standard.
Solarium fits into private home setups without disruption. The cart footprint is 6x6 ft, which works in most dining rooms, living rooms, patios, and back yards. Ben and Halle handle all setup and breakdown, bring water and waste handling, and clear out completely. The hosts who book Solarium for a private event tend to tell us they spent the whole time enjoying themselves, not managing logistics.
The menu at a private event typically includes:
Full espresso bar: lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, iced drinks
Halle's Morning, Solarium's signature vanilla latte made with house-made syrup
Seasonal signature drinks and rotating specials
Optional cold brew, matcha lattes, and chai lattes
School and PTO Events in Newton
Newton Public Schools have a strong PTO culture, and teacher appreciation events here tend to be planned with real intention. A full espresso bar setup in a school lobby or staff room changes the tone of that kind of event, particularly for a staff that spends their day taking care of others.
Solarium brings everything: equipment, coffee, syrups, cups, and setup. The cart fits in most school lobbies or staff areas. Ben and Halle are there for the full service window, from setup before the first teacher arrives to breakdown after the last cup is poured.
Hot chocolate can be added to the menu for school events where younger students may be involved.
Wedding Coffee Cart Catering Near Newton
Newton and its neighboring communities offer a range of venues where a specialty coffee bar fits naturally: estates in Newton Highlands, historic spaces near Newton Centre, and hotel ballrooms like the Four Points by Sheraton Newton. Nearby options include the Harry Parker Boathouse in Brighton, which overlooks the Charles River and frequently hosts receptions.
A coffee cart at a wedding reception or bridal brunch works best when it is positioned as a distinct experience from the main catering bar. Guests remember the cart because it is interactive. Drinks are made to order, latte art is poured, and the menu offers something that generic catering coffee cannot.
Solarium recommends booking wedding services 4-8 weeks in advance for spring and fall weekends, which fill quickly across Greater Boston. Decaf espresso is complimentary for evening events.

★★★★★
Ben at Solarium was fantastic and so professional to work with for a corporate event I set up with him. On top of him being a great and quick communicator, the coffee cart set up was impressive and aesthetic, and the drinks themselves were unbelievable. I will be thinking of the coffees I had from Solarium for a very long time and will be setting up future events with Ben so I can get my Solarium coffee fix from him!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Booking a mobile coffee cart for the first time comes with questions. We have answered many of them below. If something is not covered here, Ben or Halle will respond to your message promptly.
Service & Setup
-
Ben and Halle, always. Solarium does not use third-party staffing. The people you communicate with during planning are the same people behind the bar on event day. That is not a marketing line; it is how the business is structured.
-
A Solarium setup requires:
A 6x6 ft clear space for the cart and support table
A dedicated 15-amp circuit (we have a 25 ft extension cord)
Roll-in access: ground level entry or a freight elevator
For outdoor events: a level surface and, if no power is available, our generator add-on
We do not need running water at the venue. We bring everything needed and handle all waste.
-
Yes. The Route 128 and Mass Turnpike corridor runs through Newton and is part of our service area. We are set up for office events, client breakfasts, team celebrations, and workspace activations. Our cart requires a 6x6 ft footprint and a dedicated 15-amp outlet, which most office spaces accommodate without any special preparation.
-
Yes. Private home events are some of the most common bookings we take. The cart footprint is 6x6 ft, which fits comfortably in most dining rooms, living rooms, kitchens with open floor space, or outdoor patios. We bring everything including water, cups, and waste handling, and we break down completely.
-
Yes. Hotel venues and event spaces with standard power access are straightforward for us. We need a 6x6 ft space, a dedicated 15-amp circuit, and roll-in access (ground level or freight elevator). If you are coordinating with a venue's event staff, we are used to working within those logistics and can communicate directly with venue coordinators.
Beverage Options & Customization
-
It is the real thing. Solarium uses single-origin espresso from George Howell Coffee Company, roasted in Acton, MA. The syrups, including Halle's Morning and Cinnamon Sugar, are made from scratch, not purchased from a commercial distributor. The drinks are made to order on a professional setup with precision grinders. Clients who drink specialty coffee regularly recognize the difference immediately.
-
Because it is the best single-origin espresso sourced and roasted in Massachusetts. George Howell opened his first cafe in Newtonville in 2012 and has been one of the most important figures in American specialty coffee for decades. The photo of Ben, Halle, and George at the top of this page is the short version of a longer answer. When you taste the espresso at a Solarium event, that sourcing relationship is part of what you are tasting.
-
Yes. Optional add-ons include matcha lattes, chai lattes, and cold brew. Seasonal drinks sometimes feature non-coffee bases as well. Decaf espresso is available and complimentary for evening events. If you have a specific request for your Newton event, mention it when you fill out the quote form and we will let you know what we can accommodate.
Booking & Payment
-
Services start at $599 for a single barista, with no travel fee for Newton. Most Newton events run 2-3 hours and land in the $800 to $1,200 range depending on guest count and add-ons. Two-barista events for larger gatherings start at $999. You can get an exact quote in minutes using the form on this page. Hourly rates are $200/barista-hour for service beyond 2 hours.
-
As soon as you know your date, reach out. We limit our availability to maintain quality, and popular dates fill up. Two weeks of lead time is typically enough for weekday events and off-peak weekends, but peak season weekends book further out. That said, we always try to accommodate last-minute requests, so don't hesitate to reach out even if your event is close. Teacher appreciation events in May and corporate end-of-year gatherings in December book early. If your date is flexible, earlier is always better. If you have a specific date in mind, reach out now and we will confirm availability.
-
Because we limit our availability and begin preparing specifically for your event well in advance, our cancellation terms reflect the time and resources committed. All cancellations must be submitted in writing. If cancelled more than 14 days before your event, the deposit is refunded minus any non-recoverable expenses already incurred. All additional payments beyond the deposit are refunded in full.
For rescheduling, if you reach out at least 7 days before your event, your deposit and any payments already made can be applied as a credit toward the new date (subject to our availability and is not guaranteed, but we will always do our best to make it work)
General
-
Yes. Solarium Coffee carries liability insurance. This is standard and required for most corporate venues and event spaces. If your venue or event coordinator needs a certificate of insurance, just let us know and it can be provided.
-
Two things, and they are related. First, Ben and Halle are at every event personally. There is no staffing agency or last-minute substitute. Second, the coffee itself is genuinely specialty-grade: single-origin espresso from George Howell Coffee Company and syrups made from scratch. Most coffee cart operations in the Boston area use commercial beans and bottled syrups. Solarium does not. Those two differences show up in the cup and in the experience.
